Successfully made it to the Clinic on time even with the time change. As we waited for our lab results we got to visit with some other patients. Kristen was wearing a Razorback baseball cap so a couple of ladies started chatting with us. Turns out they are from Mena, AR. Small world? It's funny there are standard questions you ask in the waiting rooms. Where are you from? What was your diagnosis? Where are you staying? How long have you been here? Sometimes we don't even get around to names. There was a retired Air Force couple from Virginia. They were so sweet, he was quietly reading to her from the Bible. Funny enough they used to live in Blytheville. Then a couple of older ladies, sisters from Mississippi, sat down. I commented on the caregivers ring. Turns out she got it on a trip to Hawaii where you pick an oyster and get to keep the pearl. In her case two gorgeous black pearls. It was appropriate for her because she had two sets of twin grandchildren. Then there was a gentleman from here in Houston. I feel bad but the impression we walked away with was that he was just sour. Everything was negative. Funny enough most of us were sent on to the Transfusion unit. Kristen needed to get more platelets. Her platelet count was 8! Her white count was still 0 so she wears a mask in the clinic and we are extra careful about hand washing. Luckily there is sanitizer all throughout the clinic too. It only took about an hour to get the platelets and then it was back home. Kristen is still trying to eat as much as she can but a lot of times it goes right through her or comes back up. We did have a treat today. A cousin that I probably haven't seen in 20-30 years came to visit. Because of strong family resemblances we were able to recognize each other. It was nice to catch up. We are a step ahead for the family reunion this summer. I also got to see pictures of her new grandson. Kristen slept through most of the visit.
Please continue to pray for remission. For the short term also pray for Kristen to be able to eat well to regain her strength. I had to push her in a wheelchair today since she was too weak to walk very far. Thank you for faithfully journeying with us.
