Kristen will be admitted to MD Anderson sometime today. They will start chemo then. She will be on a different mixture of chemotherapy drugs than before. Dr. Kadia warned her that these pack a punch on the body so she should expect side effects. We should expect her to be hospitalized at least 4-5 days. Last time she was in for 7 days because of the side effects. It's hard to watch her body wear down these past few days. She just can't seem to get enough sleep. She didn't sleep well last night because her new PICC line was uncomfortable. She doesn't look forward to being in the hospital since they seem to wake her up several times during the night.
How you can help...Pray that the chemo is effective in killing these leukemia cells. The plan is to get her right back into remission. Pray that Kristen's body remains strong. She will need adequate sleep and nutrition during this time. She is already tiny so she can't afford to shrink further. Pray that once again the inpatient staff see her as an individual and not just another body shuffled through. Give thanks for the fact that we are once again receiving treatment so swiftly. Give thanks that we are able to get treatment here at MD Anderson. Pray that Devin and I remain calm and not let ourselves become "agitated" during the long idle hours. Pray that we remember to care for ourselves so that we remain well for Kristen. I am grateful for your prayers and your spiritual presence with us.
