Day +69

Upon leaving the doctor today I felt a little like Charlie Brown when Lucy would yank the football away. I wanted to scream "Aaaarrrgggggh!" The appointment went well and Kristen's numbers were okay. Kristen asked a lot of questions about what to expect in the future. Like when she could work/go to school, when she'd get to eat a normal diet, how often she would get her blood checked back home... Dr. Popat patiently answered them all. (Answers: 3 months, when she goes home, at first once a week...) We then tried to pin him down on the day she could actually leave Houston. He would not confirm that she could leave on day 82 after her biopsy. Aaarrrgggggh! He hinted that we may have to linger for a few days for them to get preliminary results. Being tenacious individuals, Kristen and I attempted to get better confirmation from Dr. Popat's PA, Richard. As I type this, Kristen received an email back from him saying that he would schedule her biopsy for the 8th instead of the 9th so we should be able to leave for Arkansas by that weekend.

We are anxious to go through the discharge class on September 1st. It is supposed to be a three hour long class! Devin, how do you always manage to miss out on these? Ha Ha! Anyway, we hope to have more of our questions answered then. In the mean time, we are going through the apartment sorting through the items that need to be donated to the hospital, packing up items we are not using and eating up the items in our fridge and freezer.

My initial prayer request would have been that we continue to be on track for going home early. After meditating on that thought for a while this verse popped into my head. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me." John 14:1-3 Are we holding on so tight to the details or trying to get confirmation for our purposes that we aren't trusting God to see this through? So, my prayer request is this. Pray that we would trust the Lord to see this to completion, on His terms, not ours. Pray also that He would continue to prepare our hearts and minds for a return to living together as a family again.
