Say Yes to the Dress

It's bittersweet for me to write this post today, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. Kristen and I would watch the TLC program Say Yes to the Dress. We would comment about how so many moms were a little too vocal about their opinions of the bridal dress. I was flattered to hear Kristen say that she knew I wouldn't ever be that way. It would get us to talking about the dress she picked for her senior prom. Little did we know then but that would be the closest we would ever come to her Say Yes moment. I remember that the day we went shopping I felt terrible. I was coming down with a bad cold and was even running a bit of a fever. But, we were running out of time to get a dress and get it altered in time for prom. So off we went to Bentonville, to She Said Yes. Appropriately named? We went through her sizes and picked out a variety of dresses to try. She saw the dress above and even though it was a little pricier than I planned on spending, I told her to try it on. The minute she saw it, there was just a light in her eyes that I couldn't say no. She tried it on first and her face just lit up. I wisely kept quiet and she tried on several other picks. When she was done, I said put back on the first one. Once again she just glowed in the dress. It was perfect for her. I remember smiling and saying this is it isn't it? She was sweet and said something about the price but I said don't worry about it. We had it fitted for alterations and she got it just in time for the big day. She was fortunate enough to get to wear it twice that year. She not only went to Fayetteville's prom, but a friend from dive team took her to Bentonville's prom. So she got to wear her favorite dress twice. The above picture is taken before the FHS prom.
