Saturday 10am

Kristen is haning in there this morning. She had a pretty busy night, they put another PICC line in for her so they would have good access for all that they might need to give her. She had a fever off and on throughout the night but is resting now. Much to her dislike they also put a catheter in. I don't know that she thought it was necessary but with all the fluids they are giving her they want to be sure they don't overload her. Last night the critical care doctor believes it to be a fungal pnemonia that is causing this. There is a chance the steroid inhaler they gave her about a week before we left dropped her immune system further in and around her lungs and thereby allowing this fungus to pop up. He thought her rappid respiration was her body's way to fight what was going on in her system. He was also going to talk it over with the doctors this morning and see if they agreed, but based on the chest x-ray, her blood work, and her condition that is what he thought.

They kicked me out of the room from 6-10am this morning for "quiet time". I don't think there is really any quiet time, but that may be more about the family and less about the patient.

I'll post more as the day progresses.

Devin.
