Please Help Make a Difference

Every 4 minutes one person is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
An estimated 139,860 people in the United States will be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2009. New cases of leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma account for 9.5 percent of the 1,479,350 new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States this year.

Every ten minutes, someone dies from a blood cancer. This statistic represents nearly 146 people each day, or more than six people every hour. Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society invests $61 million annually in support of more than 200 researchers, provides financial assistance to patients, sponsors scientific conferences around the country, produces educational materials and videos, and runs over 50 support groups nationwide.Because we receive no federal funding, we depend on you for continued support of these needed programs.

A friend of ours, Becky Weatherford, is honoring Kristen by participating in a marathon October 17, 2010 with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. Becky will be running the 26 mile Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. Her goal is to raise $3,500 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by the end of August. Becky has been training for months even in this unbelievably hot weather. She tells me that when she has a day when she really doesn't feel like running the distance she remembers the fact that Kristen has no choice but to run her "race". Your donation is 100% tax deductible and 75% of every dollar goes directly to our mission. Every little bit helps.
