When Kristen and I left this afternoon for the trip to the ATC I jokingly asked her "We'll be back before 9pm right?", I had a DVD rental from Red Box that I needed to return before nine to avoid a late fee. She looked at me kind of funny and said yea, of course we'll be back before then. They typically only take about four hours, and that's on the high side. Well, we all I can say is we didn't get the DVD returned in time unless Red Box has a five or ten minute grace period included in their return time. We got up there about 12:40, Kristen did her blood draws and then we headed up to the 10th floor to the ATC for infusions and as I said earlier probably platelets. All was well, and I asked the nurse around 3pm if he had her blood work results because I wouldn't be surprised if she needed platelets. He said he would check and cruised on out of the room. When he didn't return I figured well, perhaps she didn't need them after all. When her magnesium infusion finished at 5pm he returned and I asked him again to which he replied "let me check". Sure enough she needed them, and Kristen and I both knew it would be 2 or 3 hours to order them, and about an hour to infuse them. Needless to say we were less than happy about it, but not much you can do other than wait.
That pretty much wrapped up the day, we'll be back up there bright and early tomorrow morning for more blood work and infusions. Hopefully it will go a little better, and you can be sure I will be more of a pain to be we don't blow eight or nine hours again.
Once again, thank you for all the support and prayers as we continue on this journey.
