Kristen is still in the hospital. Dr. Cooper is now talking Wed or Thurs for her to go home. She can go for a short period of time without wearing the oxygen but cannot maintain her oxygen level. She received platelets again today. They came from a single donor. I have to stress once again how important it is to give blood or platelets if you are able. Platelets from a single donor often stay with Kristen longer than those that are pooled from several donors. Platelets can be donated more often, every 2 weeks. Blood pressure is still an issue. We just aren't sure why. They treat it and she will be okay for a day or two and then it goes back up. Today she had a coughing fit that made her nauseous. If it's not one thing it is another.
I ran away for a period of time today. I just went and did a few things for myself. It's very difficult to leave her during the day. I hate being gone and I try to choose times when she will be napping. When she is getting blood products I can almost bet she will nap because of the pre-meds. This morning it was so funny, she told me that I didn't even love her since I didn't bring anything to take care of her pedicure. I responded, "Oh yeah," and pulled out all this stuff that I just happened to bring with me today. I also brought Einstein's Bagels for the nurses. They loved them. I'll have to bring something for the evening shift tomorrow. I didn't leave Kristen out. I got her a plain bagel with honey almond schmear. It's her favorite. She managed to eat about 2/3 of the bagel. Not bad for her.
Prayer needs:
Strengthening of her lungs.
Marrow to start producing it's own platelets.
Regaining her strength. (As I mentioned before, just getting up to go to the bathroom seems to take so much effort!)
Blood pressure to go down and stay down.
Return of some kind of appetite (Her taste buds are off and nothing seems to taste good.)
To feel good enough to go home from the hospital.
FOR THIS TRANSPLANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND RID HER BODY OF CANCER CELLS!
