Day 24

I thought I was going to be able to report that Kristen was doing much better but we are on a roller coaster with good days and bad. Today she was mainly tired. Her hemoglobin and platelets were both low. So she got a unit of platelets and 2 units of red blood. Her breathing is better and then it's not. I'm hoping she makes it through the night without needing the mask and just uses the canula. She'll be getting another breathing treatment about 1 a.m. so if she needs to they will switch her. Today she also got lasix for fluid retention and a blood pressure medicine. I got her to eat earlier in the day but she had fizzled out by supper time. When I left at 9 p.m. she was about half way through her 2nd bag of blood. I didn't get to speak to the doctor today so I don't know if it's even possible for her to go home tomorrow. We will just wait and see. I know she would appreciate the break from the hospital, but she still seems to need to be there. Our nurse today was very nice but, I'm glad we were paying attention. There were a couple of times she seemed kind of scatter-brained and we would have to correct her. Yikes! Tonight Kristen has Lydia. She's had her several nights this past week. I think she is efficient on getting in and out of there and not waking Kristen too much during the night.

Prayer concerns:
Kristen being well enough to leave the hospital.
Her lungs to regain strength.
The ability of her blood to start to renew itself so she won't need so many transfusions.
A day when we can say that she is cancer free!

To bad today about the US losing to Ghana. I caught the end of the game.

Happy Birthday Audrey!
