Surpise! It's Giada

Kristen and I had some fun today. This is the first day that we've been in Houston that she's felt well enough to do anything. We went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. It was across from my favorite store Sur La Table. I could browse in that store for hours. And I have to hold myself back from buying everything. I've got issues with collecting kitchen gadgets. While we were there a salesperson mentioned that we were just missing the crowd. It seems there would be a book signing at 5 p.m. The cookbook author is Devin's crush, Giada. He tells me that if something would ever happen to me he would marry Giada. Even when I tell him she's married he says "So." Kristen and I bought two copies of her newest cookbook and obtained a ticket to the signing. We browsed some other stores and then stood in line for over an hour waiting to get her signature. (I stood, Kristen rested, and my feet are killing me.) It was worth it. She is as beautiful and as gracious as she seems on tv. While we were waiting in line, we visited with those around us. We got to talking with one family about restaurants and I mentioned Frenchies in Clear Lake. The lady in front of us heard and asked "What did you say about Frenchies?" We told her that they have the most amazing fettuccine alfredo. You won't believe this but it is her families restaurant! I told her that we lived in that area when Kristen was little and that they even had a dish named after the OB/Gyn who delivered her. She laughed and said do you mean Dr. Falk. It's a small small world. I took Kristen there over a year ago during the weekday lunch rush. The owner,Frank, reminds you of the soup Nazi on Seinfeld. If you are in the Clear Lake area, visit it on Nasa Road 1 and El Camino Real.
