Did You Hear Me Scream?

Some days I just want to scream. I find not being in control of our own life frustrating. Today it looks like Kristen and I will only be flying home for a short visit over Easter. That is provided the doctor says it is okay. So we had labs, lab review and bone marrow aspiration today. Labs looked good. Her white count has climbed and her platelets were at 35. Her bilirubin was stable but one of the other numbers associated with liver functioning went from 95 to 1000+. Not good. Her liver ultrasound came back clear so they think this is some GVHD. So that means our Leukemia doctor wants us to see the transplant doctor as soon as possible. They've scheduled her appt. with him for Monday afternoon.

Please pray 1) for Remission, 2) that we are able to come home even for a couple of nights, 3) for an answer to her liver numbers 4) Transplant and ultimately a cure.

We do know that the next transplant will be using cord blood. Currently they have ordered typing to find a match. Kristen is a good candidate for this because she is small. Sometimes for adults they have to combine cords. With Kristen they will "expand" the cord. Don't ask me too many questions here because I just don't know a lot yet. I've got my research team on it.

Before I forget, give thanks also for the fact that Kristen's medical teams want to get to the bottom of any unusual labs or such. It is frustrating in the short term but our goal is long term health. We are very fortunate to be in one of the best facilities in the world for her care.

Pray that we have great news for tomorrow. Remission, remission, remission!
