Hit the Ground Running

Today started with Devin and I switching roles. We were able again to take advantage of the kindness of our good friends in Tulsa. What a Blessing! It was close to eleven by the time that I made it up to the hospital. Kristen was kind of awake but very loopy. She probably won't remember much of the past few days! She did her best to catch me up on what was going on. It seems I had just missed the doctor. He told her that she would be getting whole blood and that they would do a fine needle aspiration of the painful hemotoma caused by the biopsy. It looks like a painful little horn on her hip. She reports that it feels like she's got a rock digging into her constantly. Before her blood finished and before they took her to do the aspiration the IV Therapy team arrived to insert a new PICC line. I got shooed out of the room for that. Little did they know that I'd seen it all done before when she had her transplant. By the time this was finished it was 3:30 and the nurse quickly ordered transport so Kristen could a) get the aspiration and b) have an xray of her PICC to make sure it was in correctly. If they didn't get her down to aspiration by 4 they weren't going to do it. I think everybody wants out of here early since it is Friday. I can't say I blame them. We've had answered prayer in the fact that Kristen has been eating fairly well and gained back a little weight. Good job Devin! We think she will get to leave the hospital for the apartment on Sunday. So please pray for that. Thank you for all the encouraging emails. Sometimes it feels like our family is all alone in this battle, so being reminded of all the prayer warriors out there is a great comfort. Please continue to pray for REMISSION and the long term goal of being free from this disease. Pray for God to continue to be our strength. Pray for Devin as he continues to be both dad and mom for Steven and for me as a caregiver for Kristen. Pray for wisdom and discernment for our medical team as we take one day at a time.
