Kristen and her cousin Heidi used to play together a lot when we got together. A lot of times I would take the kids back home to Peabody during the summer. One summer we had left the girls at the farm with Grandma while the rest of us were off to where ever we were off to. Now on a farm there are a lot of great ways to have fun. (I remember jumping from one big round bale to another with my friends.) At this particular time my brother was raising pigs. One of the ways you provided shelter and shade for the pigs was with old railroad tank cars that were sawed in half with the ends cut off. So they looked like half circles with openings on each end. They were fun to walk on because they had a little bounce to them. So Kristen and Heidi were goofing around and got on top of one of these. If I remember the story correctly Heidi got on first and pulled Kristen up. As they went to move to the other, Heidi jumped across easily since she was older and taller. Kristen couldn't quite reach so Heidi was helping her. The next thing you know the girls are in the pen cover with stinky mud and pig poo. They were lucky that the pigs didn't take offense to the intrusion. Somehow they managed to get out of the pen and head back to the house. Grandma took one look at them and not only gave them a piece of her mind but ended up having to hose them off in the yard. I'm not sure exactly what happened after that but I think it involved clothes being removed in the garage, and an unscheduled bath. I do remember that when Bev and I returned, Grandma still had steam coming out of her ears.
