Day 22

I wasn't so sure what I was going to report today. Kristen slept most of the day away. She took her meds without food and it made her nauseous. So, she took some medicine. This pretty much conked her out for the majority of the day. We have a new inpatient doctor. Dr. Cooper is the head honcho of the Peds doctors. I loved him. He was very good with Kristen and very positive. He said she was doing great with her transplant and did the right thing coming into the hospital for this flu. He told her to expect to stay the weekend at least. About mid morning they moved her to an isolation room. She's through the worst of it so, I felt it was kind of like shutting the gate after the cows have gotten out. I had to really push nutrition on Kristen today. You know how you feel after having the flu. Not much of an appetite. I did manage to get her to eat a little. Hurrah for me! Her blood pressure seemed back to normal and her heart rate is back down. She is still dependent on the O2 for a bit longer. They have been able to reduce the amount some. I think the best thing we did yesterday was put her on a mask instead of the nose thingy (I just can not remember what they call it!). That kept her O2 levels up all night. I am sleeping back at the apartment tonight. She's doing much better and I'm not as worried as I had been.

Let's start with praise for the fact that Kristen's blood pressure and heart rate have returned to normal. Thanks to God for that answered prayer. Pray now that she continues to recover from this flu and is able to breath on her own. Pray that she will begin to take in more nutrition and regain her strength. Her engraftment seems to be going well so far. Pray that it continues and that she can look forward to a future cancer free. Also, praise God for the good news I heard from another transplant mom. Her daughter is doing so well that her tacro has been reduced to 2 pills a week! A year ago she was like Kristen, taking a pill for everything!

Thank you again to all of you that have sent cards or emailed. Your encouragement is greatly appreciated. I'm touched by those of you that I do not know personally that reach out to let us know you are praying for Kristen. The power of prayer is enormous and I'm grateful to know that the Lord has laid our family on your hearts at this time.
