Rest day. Kristen is only receiving fluids and her tacro today. Her body gets a break before the transfusion of stem cells tomorrow. Dr. P said that she will probably get the first cord around 10 a.m. The second hopefully around 1 p.m. Timing for the second depends on how her body reacts to the first transfusion. She will have a nurse with her the entire time she is getting the cords. The nurse will monitor her vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, heart rate). That way they can react immediately if there is a problem. As for today, Kristen is still feeling ok. Not great, just ok. She can tell that the chemo is starting to have an effect. Her appetite is down and the food doesn't taste right. She has to be careful what she is eating so that she doesn't make herself nauseaus. I picked Devin up at the airport just an hour ago and dropped him off at the hospital. I will run some errands for Kristen and generally get a break from the hospital for a few hours. Tomorrow will be a long day.
Please pray for us tomorrow around 10 a.m. As we pray over the cells with the Chaplain we'd love to know that you all are praying with us. And again around 1 p.m.
Even if the timing is off a little I know God still knows our intent. In your prayers please pray that these cells heal Kristen's body. That the cells attack and eliminate any remaining cancer cells that would like to keep her weak. That she remain strong in spirit and in body. Pray that she follows the requests of her medical team and eats and excersizes properly.
Once again thank you for traveling down this road with us. We are truly blessed to have all of you lifting us up.
And before I forget. Please say a prayer for another young lady getting a transplant tomorrow. I didn't get her name but she is getting her own stem cells tomorrow. She is suffering from ovarian cancer and she is younger than Kristen by 5-6 years! This is also her second transplant. Pray for successful healing for her also.
