I spoke to our coordinator Kathie this morning. God Bless her! She is so wonderful. I can't imagine how many cases she works but she makes you feel like you are important. She heard from our Dr. and the plan is for Kristen to go to Houston on the 26th. She sees the doctor on the 27th and if all is well, she will enter the hospital that evening for Transplant.
She is feeling much better so we hope all is clear. Please pray that she is over her virus and her lungs are nice and clear. We don't want any risk of problems during transplant. They will be doing 'standard of care' this time around. That means that they will not be expanding one of the cords. How does this affect Kristen? It just means that she may be in the hospital a little longer at the beginning because it may take longer to engraft.
Please Pray that:
- She is in the best health possible to enter the hospital on the 27th. (The sooner we start the sooner we finish!)
- That these cells work to rid her body of the leukemia. So we want a little GVHD (graft vs. host disease)but we don't want to see her struggle or suffer. The idea is if you have some GVHD then hopefully you are having Graft vs Leukemia Effect with the grafted cells attacking and ridding her body of the cancer.
- That we would allow God to use our situation as He sees fit, to witness, to encourage, to refine us, or in ways we can't even imagine.
