When I first started thinking about what I would write tonight I was going to complain. Then a light bulb went off. We had a looooooonnnnnnnngggggg day. We were at the clinic by 7 a.m. for a full schedule of appointments. Lab, review, doc, and bone marrow biopsy. We had a break midday where we were able to visit with a couple of friends from our Lake Jackson days. Kristen's biopsy was scheduled for 2:30. At 4:40 she was finally called back. So we put in a full 10+ hour day. As I was waiting for her I realized that our delay probably had a purpose. We were visiting with a family from Ft. Worth. The dad had lymphoma and was being recommended for stem cell transplant. We talked about our experience. They asked questions about MD Anderson and we answered as best we could. As they walked away the mom turned around and said "Thank you. You've helped ease some of the stress I was feeling about transplant." If we would not have been delayed. If we didn't have so much time to kill, that interaction wouldn't have taken place. God works in mysterious ways.
Now I know many of you have been waiting and praying for Kristen's labs. We did not need platelets. Yeah! They were at 21. Not great but better than what they had been. Her white count is still 0 so we still have to stay vigilant about germs. We don't go and do much right now. Not even a visit to Nordstrom's shoe department!
Thank you for your continued prayers. Kristen has had some relief from her nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Yeah! And she has been able to take in more nutrition. Both of these answered prayers. Praise God. I know you continue to pray for us but today I request prayers for the couple we overheard stating that they didn't fill one prescription because they could not afford it. And for the family from Ft. Worth, that they would not be overwhelmed by MD Anderson and trust God to see them through.
