We're Home

Surprise! We really thought we had another week but found out late Friday afternoon that we could go home to Fayetteville! Devin and Steven were already on their way, so Kristen and I packed up the rest of the apartment. When Devin got there he asked why everything was in the middle of the living room. Kristen said that we decided we were ready to go home. He didn't catch on at first. So our poor guys, they had a 9 hour drive on Friday and we turned around and did it again on Saturday. I wanted to stop for an overnight in Dallas but was trumped by Kristen. She wanted to sleep in her own bed and cuddle her own kitties. Kitties were very happy to see us. In fact, I was woken up several times during the night to 'love' on Lulu. Now we are living in a houseful of boxes. We'll have to take several days to unpack and figure out where everything should go. You pick up a few things when you are living in another city. It didn't help that Kristen would justify purchases with, "I can use that when I move into my own apartment." (OK sometimes it was me that would say that.)

So, what happens from here...
Starting sometime this week Kristen will check in with Dr. Beck here in Fayetteville. She will have labs done in his office and he will work in connection with the transplant doc from MD A. In about a month she will return to Houston for a day or maybe 2 for them to do the bone marrow biopsy and some of the re-checks with the optometry and the cardiopulmonary depts. These are two areas that GVHD can rear its ugly head. We hope that they are able to make all of these appointments on the same day so that she can fly in and out the same day.

I'm already biting my nails today as she asserts her independence. She's gone off to say hi to some of her friends. I want to go and lock her in her room and let her out when her immune system is back to 100%. Instead I will need to exercise patience and faith.

Once again thank you, thank you, thank you, for your faithfulness in following Kristen's progress and your constant prayer. I will continue to blog here for a while but this may evolve. I haven't thought it through quite yet. I'll let you know!

Once again praise to the Father from who all good things come!
