Day One of the Marathon

So we have survived our first day of appointments. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Kristen had lab, visited with SCT doc, transplant coordinator, business rep, and infusion therapy consult. These all went well and we were even ahead of schedule. THEN, they surprised Kristen with an Opthamology appointment. Many of you know that Kristen has a real issue with eyes. She is kind of grossed out about them. I practically have to tie her down to give her eye drops. She managed to tough it out through the routine pictures and exam. Then they sprang a tear drop test on her. They put these strips in the corner of her eyes to see the tear production. I thought she was going to come unglued. She made it through the 2 minute wait and then they put drops in her eyes and did it again. I and the assistant just had to laugh at her squirming around in her seat. Of course more eye drops as they ran other tests and finally the dilating of the eye so that they could take more pictures. This appointment seemed to go on forever and made us late for the radiology appointments. Luckily they worked us in quickly and we were done ahead of schedule. Now poor Kristen had been having a headache most of the day and it just got worse as we went on. She was not able to eat at least 3 hours before radiology. By 1:40 she was beyond hungry into headache sick. As I type this she is napping in our hotel room. Tomorrow is day 2 of the marathon. Pray that it goes smoothly!
