Day -6
Kristen has finished her chemo for today. She is getting Busulfan and Fludarabine. They don't run 24 hours the way her Induction and Consolodation chemos did. The Busulfan can cause seizures so she is getting a medication to counteract that. So far everything is going well. She's had a moderate headache but they are managing it so that it doesn't get out of control. It is another side effect of the Busulfan. We are strolling around the floor when we can. And she is keeping up with her preventive mouth and lung care. Amazingly the Peds floor is fairly quiet. The nurses and doctors have been great. The Peds floor has patients from 2 months to 25 years old. They offer movies and video games in the room and they have a domed area with basketball goals and big play areas. They even have a teen hangout. There is a kitchen in the family area where you can cook for your child and a classroom area to keep patients up to date on their schoolwork. They seem to have thought of everything. I will be hanging out here all day. When Kristen sleeps I go off to walk the sky walk. 2 round trips is 20 minutes. If you get a chance send Kristen a card. We will 'decorate' her room with them. See 'Moving Day Part Deux' for our address.
